The Health Benefits Of Glucoamylase

Glucoamylase (also known as amyloglucosidase) is a type of digestive enzyme that cleaves or breaks off a free glucose molecule from the complex sugar-based chains that form starch or from the simpler sugar, maltose. The glucose that is freed can then be used as a source of energy for the body. Glucoamylase helps to break down starch that occurs naturally in most vegetables that we eat (in very high amounts in common foods like potatoes, corn, rice, and wheat) or is added as filler or processing additive in many prepared food products. It is a specific type of amylase (starch-digesting enzyme) that our bodies produce in the mouth and pancreas, but it may also be derived from non-animal sources. Glucoamylase is often described separately from […] Read More

Study finds testosterone supplementation reduces heart attack risk in men with heart disease

A new multi-year study from the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute in Salt Lake City shows that testosterone therapy helped elderly men with low testosterone levels and pre-existing coronary artery disease reduce their risks of major adverse cardiovascular events — including strokes, heart attacks, and death. The study showed that patients who received testosterone as part of their follow-up treatment fared much better than patients who didn’t. Non-testosterone-therapy patients were 80 percent more likely to suffer an adverse event. “The study shows that using testosterone replacement therapy to increase testosterone to normal levels in androgen-deficient men doesn’t increase their risk of a serious heart attack or stroke,” said cardiologist Brent Muhlestein, MD, co-director of cardiovascular research at the Intermountain Medical Center Heart Institute. “That was […] Read More

Justice Department and Federal Partners Announce Enforcement Actions of Dietary Supplement Cases

As part of a nationwide sweep, the Department of Justice and its federal partners have pursued civil and criminal cases against more than 100 makers and marketers of dietary supplements. The actions discussed today resulted from a year-long effort, beginning in November 2014, to focus enforcement resources in an area of the dietary supplement market that is causing increasing concern among health officials nationwide. In each case, the department or one of its federal partners allege the sale of supplements that contain ingredients other than those listed on the product label or the sale of products that make health or disease treatment claims that are unsupported by adequate scientific evidence. Among the cases announced today is a criminal case charging USPlabs LLC and several of […] Read More

Mega-Dose Supplementing Outperforms Psychiatric Drugs

Orthomolecular Psychiatry shuns pharmaceuticals and uses mega-dose supplementation. It is much more effective than mainstream psychiatry’s pharmaceutical approaches. It works without the adverse physiological side effects of psychotropic pharmaceuticals and other psychological issues that often lead to more depression, anxiety, and ultimately suicides and murders. You may not know of this unique branch that is taunted and suppressed by the medical mafia. Orthomolecular psychiatry competes with Big Pharma’s grip on psychiatrists and other MDs who are not psychiatrists. Even worse, it is in the shadows of mainstream media and entertainment’s mass mind control conditioning of mental health. Pharmaceutical psychiatric drugs are profitable and covered by private and public insurers. Supplements are not, but treating with them does require close scrutiny of patients by willing doctors […] Read More

Low vitamin D level predicts cognitive decline in older population

Older adults with deficiencies in vitamin D experience more rapid cognitive decline over time than those with adequate vitamin D levels. a study published Sept. 15 in the Journal of the American Medical Association-Neurology, Joshua Miller, professor of nutritional sciences at the Rutgers School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, found that people with low levels of vitamin D experienced rates of cognitive decline at a much faster pace than people with adequate vitamin D status. “There were some people in the study who had low vitamin D who didn’t decline at all and some people with adequate vitamin D who declined quickly,” said Miller. “But on average, people with low vitamin D declined two to three times as fast as those with adequate vitamin D.” […] Read More

This Morning Supplement Can Boost Your Brain Power All Day

Heather Callaghan, Contributor Waking Times Researchers from Monash Asia Institute at Monash University found that you can spice up your memory and help with diabetic and prediabetic conditions with a tiny amount of a powdery substance that might be in your cabinet as we speak. This substance can be added to scrambled egg recipes… Can make porridge and oatmeal pop when something sweet is added. Mixed into pancake batters. Sprinkled atop some waffles and blended with maple. Mixed with leftovers… Or in the case of this study, placed on plain ol’ boring toast. And of course, it doesn’t have to be for breakfast… Have you guessed what it is yet? Researchers for the study published in the Asia Pacific Journal of Clinical Nutrition, found that […] Read More

Missing folate genes and AIDS – treat hypomethylation with nutrients, not toxic drugs!

This is another installment of research into the biochemistry of HIV and Aids by Cal Crilly, an Australian who finds himself fascinated with the intricacies of biology. Crilly analyzes the seemingly unconnected studies that show the biochemical changes that accompany the presence of numerous retroviruses – one of them called HIV – in humans. The mechanism that makes retroviruses appear is hypomethylation, and it is the same mechanism that accompanies pregnancy and inflammation. Those retroviruses are produced in the course of normal biological activity and they are not infectious. There are many different types (ever heard of HIV ‘mutating’?). As an aside, we declare pregnant mothers to be “HIV positive” as pregnancy causes the presence of retroviruses in the course of normal biological activity, and […] Read More

2003: The Essentials of Enzyme Nutrition Therapy

Food enzymes in raw food are vital for digesting that food, but their destruction during cooking is a key factor in today’s rising levels of allergies and chronic degenerative diseases. ——————————————————————————– Extracted from Nexus Magazine, Volume 10, Number 6 (October-November 2003) PO Box 30, Mapleton Qld 4560 Australia. editor@nexusmagazine.com Telephone: +61 (0)7 5442 9280; Fax: +61 (0)7 5442 9381 From our web page at: www.nexusmagazine.com © 2003 by Mark Rojek 785 N. THE HEALING POWER OF PROTEOLYTIC ENZYMES

Introduction Proteolytic enzymes (or proteases) refer to the various enzymes that digest (break down into smaller units) protein. These enzymes include the pancreatic proteases chymotrypsin and trypsin, bromelain (pineapple enzyme), papain (papaya enzyme), fungal proteases, and Serratia peptidase (the “silk worm” enzyme). Preparations of proteolytic enzymes have been shown to be useful in the following situations: Cancer Digestion support Fibrocystic breast disease Food allergies Hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis) Hepatitis C Herpes zoster (shingles) Inflammation, sports injuries and trauma Pancreatic insufficiency Multiple sclerosis Rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune disorders Sinusitis, asthma, bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease Proteolytic enzymes in cancer therapy Proteolytic enzymes have a long history of use in cancer treatment. In 1906, John Beard, a Scottish embryologist, reported on the successful treatment […] Read More
