Inflammation Buster Mask
Recipe Type: Masks
Cuisine: Natural Cures
Have you ever experienced a puffy face in the morning that doesn’t seem to leave, no matter how many splashes of cold water you go through? If you’re a person with food allergies this can be a common side effect, and it often comes with redness and inflammation that can make your skin a bit sensitive. No matter what the root cause of your inflammation may be, this mask can soothe and calm your skin for days.
Ingredients
  • – 1 tbsp. bentonite clay
  • – 1 tsp. turmeric
  • – 1 tsp. aloe vera gel
  • – 1 drop lavender essential oil
  • – apple cider vinegar (enough to make a paste consistency to your liking)
Instructions
  1. Bentonite Clay – Bentonite clay has an uncanny ability to pull toxins, chemicals, and even heavy metals out of your skin. The clay also provides oxygen to cells, and has an overall alkalizing effect. Bentonite clay is a wonderful source of minerals including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron, and potassium. When combined with a liquid and left to dry on the skin as a mask, it is also able to bind to bacteria that may contribute to conditions such as acne. This means it can help to calm skin infections and even speed up healing time.
  2. Turmeric – Turmeric is an incredible Indian spice that has passed the test of time in cooking as well as beauty regimens. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, which reduce skin inflammation, pigmentation and blemishes. It has also been used for centuries as an antibacterial agent, and is still used today to accelerate the healing of cuts and burns.
  3. Aloe Vera Gel – Believe it or not, aloe vera gel contains two hormones: Auxin and Gibberellins. These hormones provide wound healing and anti-inflammatory power that can reduce skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and more. Giberellin acts as a growth hormone that stimulates the production of new cells. It allows the skin to heal on its own, which means very minimal scarring for you!
  4. Apple Cider Vinegar – With a pH similar to skin, ACV helps restore and balance your skin’s natural environment. The acidity of the vinegar can dry out blemishes while also promoting new, healthy skin to take its place. You can also use ACV as a toner after your mask (or any day of the week), and taking it internally can combat a myriad of ailments, including those that effect the skin, such as acne.
  5. Lavender Essential Oil – Lavender has endless benefits for your skin, largely due to its antimicrobial and antioxidant characteristics. It can gently soothe sunburn and bring accelerated healing to dry skin, cuts, and so much more. Of course, lavender is a calming and soothing oil that naturally reduces redness while improving your mood.
