A team of Australian researchers are using a non-invasive ultrasound technology to assist in removing toxic plaque and lesions from nerve cells commonly associated with the onset of Alzheimer’s disease. If you are one of the many millions of people who have witnessed the degenerative effects of Alzheimer’s disease, then you likely know how heartbreaking it is to see a loved one’s quality of life dissipate in what seems like an instant. For years, scientists have worked diligently to find a counteractive treatment for the common neuro-degenerative disease, but mostly with no successful avail. Thankfully, however, this might all be about to change. A team of researchers from the Queensland Brain Institute (QBI) at the University of Queensland have found success in reversing the processes that are […] Read More

A quarter of the U.S. population suffers from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease caused by dietary sugar. We know foods like donuts and soda can make you fat, but the effects of sugar on the liver and brain are less well-known. Dietary sugar can fry your liver in much the same way alcohol can. This in turn can hurt your brain, leaving you with dementia-like symptoms decades too soon. Most people associate liver disease with alcohol abuse or hepatitis. But another type, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, which barely existed three decades ago, has quickly become the most common liver disease in America. NAFLD isn’t caused by booze or a nasty virus, but dietary sugar, which causes a buildup of fat in your liver. Overweight people are likely […] Read More
A senior scientist at MIT has declared that we are facing an epidemic of autism that may result in one half of all children being affected by autism in ten years. Dr. Stephanie Seneff, who made these remarks during a panel presentation in Groton, MA last week, specifically cites the Monsanto herbicide, Roundup, as the culprit for the escalating incidence of autism and other neurological disorders. Roundup, which was introduced in the 1970’s, contains the chemical glyphosate, which is the focal point for Seneff’s concerns. Roundup was originally restricted to use on weeds, as glyphosate kills plants. However, Roundup is now in regular use with crops. With the coming of GMO’s, plants such as soy and corn were bioengineered to tolerate glyphosate, and its use […] Read More
Shouldn’t researchers examine societal and cultural variables that are making us depressed and suicidal? For nearly two decades, Big Pharma commercials have falsely told Americans that mental illness is associated with a chemical brain imbalance, but the truth is that mental illness and suicidality are associated with poverty, unemployment, and mass incarceration. And the truth is that American society has now become so especially oppressive for young people that an embarrassingly large number of American teenagers and young adults are suicidal and depressed. In November of 2014, the U.S. government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) issued a press release titled “Nearly One in Five Adult Americans Experienced Mental Illness in 2013.” This brief press release provides a snapshot of the number of Americans […] Read More
It’s not just about getting high–cannabis could save your life. Modern research is showing that cannabis extracts protect and benefit the human brain. Here’s four amazing ways scientists are showing that cannabis actually helps to keep your brain safe from disease, dementia and even death! #4 – Cannabis promotes new brain cell growth Government scare campaigns often claim that cannabis kills brain cells, but now we are learning the truth. Those discredited studies were done in the ’70s, by strapping a gas mask onto a monkey and pumping in hundreds of joints worth of smoke. The monkeys suffered from lack of oxygen, and that’s why their brain cells died. Modern research is now proving the opposite. The active ingredients in cannabis spur the growth of […] Read More
These foods have gone from being considered healthy to unhealthy to not just healthy but even essential. In the future, when we’re zipping around the biosphere on our jetpacks and eating our nutritionally complete food pellets, we won’t have to worry about what foods will kill us or which will make us live forever. Until then, we’re left to figure out which of the food headlines we should take to heart, and which should be taken with a grain of unrefined, mineral-rich sea salt. Low-fat or high-fat? High-protein or vegan? If you don’t trust what your body tells you, remember that food science is ever evolving. Case in point: The seven foods below are ancient. But they’ve gone from being considered healthy (long ago) to unhealthy […] Read More
I read that there exists a cure for AD (Alzheimer’s Disease), does anyone know anything about it at all? Please let me explain a bit. On the Discovery Channel on TV they aired a series on the brain, I think it was called The Brain: Our Universe Within (libraries should have a copy of it). In the part on memory, it was mentioned our National Institute of Health that is trying to develop a skin test to diagnose AD. People with AD lack both potassium and potassium ion pumps or channels not only in every brain cell, but in every cell in their entire bodies and they are trying to develop a skin test to test for a lack of those ion pumps to diagnose AD. Diet is an incredibly important part of human health. A good diet can prevent illness, reduce pain and inflammation, and aid cognitive function. Every morsel of food that you put in your mouth will either help or hurt your health, so it’s important to fill your diet with foods that will promote a healthier body and mind. Many people don’t realize that junk food does more to your body than deposit fat, it can actually cause diseases like heart disease, Alzheimer’s and even cancer. Understanding what foods do to your body is the key to life-long health. Good: Luteolin High levels of luteolin found in walnuts, carrots, olive oil, peppers, and celery compound which reduces age-related memory deficits and inflammation in the brain. Studies showed […] Read More
by Lynn Landes, ZeroWasteAmerica.com (215) 493-1070 and MariaBechis, updated July 1998 The widespread and uncontrolled use of fluoride in our water, food, juices, beverages, and dental products is causing widespread overexposure to fluoride in the U.S. For three consecutive years, The Journal of the American Dental Association (see JADA’s Dec. 1995, July1996, July 1997) has published studies reporting on pervasive overexposure to fluoride due to “the widespread use of fluoridated water, fluoride dentifrice, dietary fluoride supplements and other forms of fluoride…{There is} an increased prevalence of dental fluorosis, ranging from about 15% to 65% in fluoridated areas and 5% to 40% in non-fluoridated areas in NorthAmerica.” In February of 1997, The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) warned parents to limit their children’s intake of juices […] Read More
By Walter Last The cause and cure of cancer is basically unknown, not only in conventional medicine but also in natural medicine. For decades, while working as a natural therapist and health writer, I continually tried to improve my understanding of what was really going on, and I am confident that the relevant pieces of the puzzle have now fallen into place. Blocked Energy Production The conventional view is that cancer originates in the cell nucleus due to random mutations or damage to the genetic material from radiation or toxic chemicals. This orthodox model sees the development of a tumor as a purely local event in an otherwise healthy body. Therefore the aim is to catch it as early as possible, remove or destroy the tumor, […] Read More
