Hillary Clinton Endorses GMOs

Independent studies show genetically modified foods and ingredients harm human health. Reports indicate White House meals are organic. Michelle Obama’s book titled “American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America” indicate the first family’s commitment to organic (non-GMO) foods in their personal diet. What they want the rest of America to eat is another story altogether – especially if Hillary is elected president in November 2016. At a July 2014 biotech conference, she publicly endorsed GMOs saying “I stand in favor of using seeds and products that have a proven track record.” She attacked GMO critics adding “(t)here is a big gap between what the facts are, and what the perceptions are.” The Clinton and Bush II families ate […] Read More

WHO cancer division to rule on widespread herbicide’s carcinogenic hazard

The World Health Organization is set to deliver a verdict on the potential danger of 2,4-D herbicides widely used in the agribusiness, and which was one of the key components of Agent Orange used during US herbicidal warfare in Vietnam. The move by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), a research arm of WHO, to examine the chemical comes shortly after the agency classified glyphosate or Roundup herbicide, produced by Monsanto, as “probably” cancerogenic. Now the stage is set to determine the possible health risk posed by the 2,4-D. Some 24 IARC scientists are due to deliver the verdict after examining pro and con studies on the issue. Their week-long meeting is scheduled to start on June 2 in Lyon, France. Produced mainly […] Read More

Lobbyist claims Monsanto’s Round Up is safe to drink, panics when TV host offers him a glass

When a controversial lobbyist claimed during a TV interview that Monsanto’s weed killer Roundup was safe to drink, the host offered him a glass. Needless to say, he wasn’t willing to back up his claim. In an upcoming documentary for French TV, Dr. Patrick Moore tells a Canal+ host that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup herbicide, was not behind increasing cancer rates in Argentina. “You can drink a whole quart of it and it won’t hurt you,” Moore says. “You want to drink some?” the host asks. “We have some here.” “I’d be happy to, actually,” Moore replies, then adding, “Not really. But I know it wouldn’t hurt me.” “If you say so, I have some,” the host insists. “I’m not stupid,” Moore snaps […] Read More

World Health Organization Admits Roundup “Probably” Causes Cancer

For over 40 years Monsanto’s patented glyphosate formula, better known as Roundup, has become a staple for farmers, gardeners, and landscapers. Monsanto has gone so far as to create genetically modified crops capable of withstanding massive amounts of the pesticide without dying. These “Roundup Ready” crops, such as corn, soy, and canola, have since come to dominate America’s agricultural industry. But over the years, many researchers have questioned whether these heavily sprayed crops are safe for human consumption. As time goes on, it appears that some institutions are beginning to change their tune on the popular pesticide. (Reuters) – The world’s most widely-used weed killer can “probably” cause cancer, the World Health Organization said on Friday. The WHO’s cancer arm, the International Agency for Research […] Read More

Consumers distrustful of ‘big food’ companies turn to local food

Linda Moon www.sbs.com.au 27 Feb 2015 Comment: Consumers distrustful of ‘big food’ companies turn to local food Mounting hepatitis cases linked to frozen berries supplied by frozen desserts and pie manufacturer Patties Foods is another in a long list of food blights fuelling consumer distrust in “big food” companies. Aided by consumer movements and the information explosion, fed up consumers are turning in greater numbers towards local food. Terry Fleck, executive director of the Centre for Food Integrity in the US, recently remarked: “Trust in our food system is very fragile.” As the production of food has become industrialised, the public increasingly sees it as an “institution” to be questioned, its motives to be doubted, Fleck said. 90 percent of people surveyed by the non-profit […] Read More

Epigenomics and How Natural Nutrients Heal Genes

Pao L. Chang, Guest Since the emergence of epigenomics, which is the study of how epigenetic modifications affect the genetic material of cells or the entire organism, geneticists have discovered that the human genome is a lot more complex than they have ever imagined. For example, DNA sequencing technologies that are currently available to mainstream geneticists can only decode roughly 21,000 known genes that are involved in protein synthesis in the human body. This only decodes a very small percentage of the human genome. The 21,000 known genes that are involved in protein synthesis make up nearly 1.5 percent of the human body’s DNA. This means that roughly 98.5 percent of the human DNA structure, which is often referred to as “junk DNA”, is yet […] Read More

Guatemalan Indigenous Communities Beat Monsanto & Seed Privatization

Jeff Abbott, Waging Nonviolence Guest Waking Times Late in the afternoon of September 4, after nearly 10 days of protests by a coalition of labor, indigenous rights groups and farmers, the indigenous peoples and campesinos of Guatemala won are rare victory. Under the pressure of massive mobilizations, the Guatemala legislature repealed Decree 19-2014, commonly referred to as the “Monsanto Law,” which would have given the transnational chemical and seed producer a foot hold into the country’s seed market. “The law would have affected all indigenous people of Guatemala,” said Edgar René Cojtín Acetún of the indigenous municipality of the department of Sololá. “The law would have privatized the seed to benefit only the multinational corporations. If we didn’t do anything now, then our children and grandchildren […] Read More

7 Ways GMOs are Destroying Humanity and the Planet

By Jonathan Benson, contributing writer to Natural News No matter what personal views you might have on genetically-modified organisms (GMOs), these relatively new biological creations are wreaking havoc on both the environment and human health, as thoroughly demonstrated in the scientific literature. And here are seven concrete examples of why: 1) GMOs lead to superbugs and superweeds. There is no denying the massive ecological changes that occur as a result of GMOs and their respective growing chemicals. Farmers all across North America now face a steadily increasing onslaught of “superweeds” and “superpests” that have spawned as a direct result of biotechnology. Among 13 major pests examined as part of a 2011 study published in the journal Environmental Sciences Europe, five of them were found to be […] Read More
