Parallel universes, the Matrix, and superintelligence

June 26, 2003 by Michio Kaku Physicists are converging on a “theory of everything,” probing the 11th dimension, developing computers for the next generation of robots, and speculating about civilizations millions of years ahead of ours, says Dr. Michio Kaku, author of the best-sellers Hyperspace and Visions and co-founder of String Field Theory, in this interview by KurzweilAI.net Editor Amara D. Angelica. Published on KurzweilAI.net June 26, 2003. What are the burning issues for you currently? Well, several things. Professionally, I work on something called Superstring theory, or now called M-theory, and the goal is to find an equation, perhaps no more than one inch long, which will allow us to “read the mind of God,” as Einstein used to say. In other […] Read More

Is Reality a Simulation Game?

by Francois Tremblay (e-mail: FTremblay@liberator.net) [October 9th, 2002] Various schools of thought have proposed the idea that our world is mere appearance, and that there is some kind of underlying mystical truth that can explain everything. “[I]t is probable that we are part of the simulations of the human species from the future: we are nothing but a reproduction of the state of Earth as programmed by the real, technologically-advanced humans.” For example, religious mystics propose that it is the supernatural that is the true reality, meditators propose the absence of thought as a profoundly significant state of being, Idealist philosophers propose a “realm of ideas” which is the true reality, promoters of Near-Death Experiences propose that the NDE is the higher reality, […] Read More

WHAT CAN MUSIC TELL US ABOUT THE NATURE OF THE MIND?

A PLATONIC MODEL Brian D. Josephson Cavendish Laboratory, Madingley Road, Cambridge CB3 0HE, U.K email: bdj10@cam.ac.uk and Tethys Carpenter Department of Music, Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, Egham, Surrey TW2 0EX, U.K. (conference proceedings to be published by MIT Press) ABSTRACT We present an account of the phenomenon of music based upon the hypothesis that there is a close parallel between the mechanics of life and the mechanics of mind, a key factor in the correspondence proposed being the existence of close parallels between the concepts of gene and musical idea. The hypothesis accounts for the specificity, complexity, functionality and apparent arbitrariness of musical structures. An implication of the model is that music should be seen as a phenomenon of transcendental character, […] Read More

BEYOND E=mc2

A first glimpse of a postmodern physics, in which mass, inertia and gravity arise from underlying electromagnetic processes Bernard Haisch, Alfonso Rueda & H.E. Puthoff published in THE SCIENCES, Vol. 34, No. 6, November / December 1994, pp. 26-31 copyright 1994, New York Academy of Sciences (posted with permission)   The most famous of all equations must surely be E=mc2. In popular culture that relation between energy and mass is virtually synonymous with relativity, and Einstein, its originator, has become a symbol of modern physics. The usual interpretation of the equation is that one kind of fundamental physical thing, mass (m in the equation), can be converted into a quite different kind of fundamental physical thing, energy (E in the equation), and vice […] Read More

Random Reality

[This fascinating paper by Marcus Chown from New Scientist, 26 February 2000, has spawned tremendous interest in creating Matrix-like realities and entire universes that evolve from mathematical dust.] Space and the material world could be created out of nothing but noise. That’s the startling conclusion of a new theory that attempts to explain the stuff of reality, as Marcus Chown reports. If you could lift a corner of the veil that shrouds reality, what would you see beneath? Nothing but randomness, say two Australian physicists. According to Reginald Cahill and Christopher Klinger of Flinders University in Adelaide, space and time and all the objects around us are no more than the froth on a deep sea of randomness. Perhaps we shouldn’t be surprised that […] Read More

The Quantum Physics of Remote Viewing

By Gerald O’Donnell. Reprinted with permission. Eighteenth and nineteenth century physical science had completed and embellished the “golden age of a mechanistic and deterministic models of the universe” where the universe and its constituents are ruled by rigid interactive forces that can be measured, phenomena that can be predicted using mathematical tools, and where the universe or any system operating within it is made of the sum of its parts. Light was thought to be an electromagnetic wave vibrating in an undetected, and later experimentally disproved media: “the ether”, at certain rates of vibration that would define its color. It was part of the electromagnetic wave spectrum that allowed one to perceive an electromagnetic wave as heat, light, radio waves or other electromagnetic […] Read More

Quantum Field Broadcasting

CONSTRUCTION PLANS The basic idea of Quantum field broadcasting is to induce patterns into the medium. This design has a copper plate on the top roughly nine and a half feet in the air and another on the bottom two feet underground. There is enough difference in potential from top to bottom that a slight current flow occurs. This is sufficient to create an induction effect. The broadcast induction coils are two feet long and are lathe-wrapped on 2-inch Sch 40 PVC cores with 20 gauge wire at approximately a quarter inch between turns. The one in the top broadcasts into the atmosphere while the one in the base does the soil. We should broadcast only the patterns appropriate for each domain, soil […] Read More

Guinea Pig B by Buckminster Fuller

I AM NOW CLOSE TO 88 and I am confident that the only thing important about me is that I am an average healthy human. I am also a living case history of a thoroughly documented, half-century, search-and-research project designed to discover what, if anything, an unknown, moneyless individual, with a dependent wife and newborn child, might be able to do effectively on behalf of all humanity that could not be accomplished by great nations, great religions or private enterprise, no matter how rich or powerfully armed. I started out fifty-six years ago, at the age of 32, to make that experiment. By good fortune I had acquired a comprehensive experience in commanding and handling ships, first as a sailor in Penobscot Bay, […] Read More

The Purpose of Human Life!

We are Spiritual Beings on a Human Journey. All Spiritual Beings are aspects of Manifested Creation. Manifested Creation is Consciousness Evolving to higher Levels of Awareness. The Purpose of Human Life on Planet Earth is to give Human Souls the opportunity to live in physical bodies and by means of this process awaken them to higher levels of awareness. The ultimate state of human awareness is the Christ Consciousness or Buddhahood. This is the highest state of awareness possible for human beings. To raise more than 30 billion Human Souls to this level is the task of many Co-Creators and Higher Entities. They are in charge of this planet and its population. To raise these Human Souls to maturity and beyond is an […] Read More

2012: The Elusivity of Nature and the Mind-matter problem

ABSTRACT This paper examines the processes involved in attempting to capture the subtlest aspects of nature by the scientific method and argues on this basis that nature is fundamentally elusive and may resist grasping by the methods of science. If we wish to come to terms with this resistance, then a shift in the direction of taking direct experience into account may be necessary for science’s future complete development. Paper What is matter and what is mind? Ren’e Descartes regarded these entities as being of totally different orders and completely separate from each other, although nowadays the conventional view is to consider mind function as reducible to the behaviour of matter. In this paper I want to propose a new theme in the […] Read More
