GREEN FIREBALL SIGHTED IN SOUTH CAROLINA
Last night, Saturday, April 20, 1996, at around 10 p.m., a UFO described as a “green fireball” rocketed over the town of North Augusta, S.C. The object was moving at a high speed and travelling at a very high altitude.
The eyewitness was a South Carolina teenaged boy. He added that, immediately after the flyover, about seven jet interceptors travelled over the town, heading in the same direction as the UFO.
Note: North Augusta, a community of 34,000, is situated three miles north of the Savannah River, which forms the South Carolina state line. Eight miles southwest of the town, in Georgia, is Fort Gordon, a U.S. Army base.
BRAZILIAN MOTORIST MAY HAVE BEEN ABDUCTED
UFOs made repeated daylight visits to Paraiba, a small state in the Sertao or Northeast of Brazil between April 4 and April 11, according to the Brazilian newspaper O Norte.
In Caiac, the northwest section of Pirpirituba, a small town 180 kilometers (108 miles) north of Joao Pessoa, the state capital of Paraiba, the Policia Militar found an abandoned car on a dirt road leading to the sugar cane fields. The car had “strange marks on the roof,” O Norte reported, and “nobody knows where the driver is.”
This case is now being investigated by Distrito 3 of Brazil’s Policia Federal.
On April 5, a “flying disc” or OVNI (Portuguese acronym for UFO) hovered about four feet above an empty lot on the Rua de Aquino in Guarabira, just south of Pirpirituba. The OVNI was seen by eight people. An eyewitness said, “The object was discoidal, didn’t emit any sound and had multicolored lights on the bottom.”
At 5:30 p.m. on or about April 7, Mrs. Maria Jose, 60, and her son were driving on the main highway between Joao Pessoa and Natal. As they passed through Pirpirituba, they spotted “a strange object hovering close to the cemetery.” The UFO flew straight toward them and passed over the roof of their car.
As a result of this encounter, Mrs. Jose suffered a nervous collapse and was taken to a hospital in Campina Grande, a nearby city.
The same week, in the outlying village of Gota de Agua, a 16-year-old boy saw a silvery disc-shaped UFO flying down the valley between two jungle-covered mountain ranges. The UFO was heading west, toward the Planalto de Barbareme and passed right over a radio mast.
An unidentified woman in this same area claimed to have seen the UFO on the ground, with an occupant standing beside it. O Norte describes the alien simply as “a being.”
Note: This is the biggest UFO flap in the Sertao in 25 years! On November 17, 1971, a disc-shaped UFO landed at Bananeiras, north of Joao Pessoa, and disabled a Volkswagen. The driver and passenger, Paulo Gaetano and Emilio Bandeirante, were taken aboard the UFO by several small aliens. The men spent five hours on board the object before being released at 4:30 a.m.
UFO SCOUTS OIL FIELDS IN SAUDI ARABIA
The night of Thursday, March 28, 1996, a UFO appeared over the oil fields near Jubail, Saudi Arabia, a town on the Persian Gulf. The Saudi newspaper Al Eqtisadiah described the UFO as “a brilliant oval blue light.”
A party of Bedouins was camped near the beach outside the town when they spotted the UFO. An eyewitness, Shaheen bou-Ainann, rubbed his eyes in disbelief. “I thought we were dreaming,” he told the newspaper. The Arabs watched the bright blue UFO for several minutes before it “vanished in an unusual fashion.”
UFOS VERY ACTIVE IN EUROPE
The United Kingdom UFO Network reports a lot of UFO activity in Europe recently.
On Monday, April 8, 1996, Radio Ulster reported that UFOs had been seen for several days and nights in the rural southern half of County Armagh in Northern Ireland.
Note: Ireland’s first cattle mutilation took place in this area just a few weeks ago.
From March 19 to March 26, 1996, UFOs were seen by day and by night over the salt lake near Torrevieja, 30 kilometers (18 miles) south of Alicante in Spain.
MARTENS HAS MORE VIDEO OF UFOS NEAR THE SPACE SHUTTLE
Video wizard D.H. Martens has come up with more video footage of UFOs following the shuttle Columbia through space. He filmed new footage from the CNN Technology show at the end of Columbia’s flight last month. The footage shows three objects shooting past the tethered satellite, moving from the upper right corner of the screen to the center. When blown up, the UFOs resemble dull yellow top-shaped or acorn-shaped objects. They look quite similar to the UFO filmed in Mexico City in 1993 and the top-shaped object videotaped in Traverse City, Michigan during June 1994.

EYEWITNESS TESTIMONY IN CALIFORNIA UFO CASE
On March 16, 1996, a 44-year-old California man and his 19-year-old daughter, while out with binoculars looking for the Comet Hyakutake, spotted a most unusual UFO. Now they’ve come forward to tell their story exclusively to UFO ROUNDUP.
The sighting took place at 10:30 p.m. just off California Highway 99 near Merced, a town north of Fresno. At first the witness thought it was a meteor, but then…”it dived and arced to the left (north). I tried to get my daughter’s attention when it started glowing brightly. I thought, ‘This is going to be a good one.’ After the initial streak, I remarked to myself, ‘Hey, it’s not done yet.'” At that point, he called out to his daughter.
“I was in shock when it became obvious that its trajectory was going to be right over my head…as it got close, I expected it to get louder. Instead, all noise stopped for the duration. It was absolutely silent, although I did hear a faint rumble. I would approximate its level-off at at least 2 miles east of me, and it disappeared into the darkness at about 2 miles west of me (heading for Mount Diablo). As it passed directly overhead, its blackness silhouetted against the background ambience for about 75 seconds. Long enough to see plainly a cross shape, with the head portion equal to the foot portion, arms shorter…the blackness seemd to have a luminescense about it. Its blackness was very distinct and clear, though I had a feeling there was more than I was seeing–a black-colored energy source on the bottom of an egg-shaped object…Its apparent size was about the size of a Lincoln’s head penny held at more than arm’s length. Its course was more than straight–it was perfect. The entire sighting lasted about seven seconds.”
Note: Four miles travelled in seven seconds works out to an estimated speed of 1,860 miles per hour. Definitely not one of ours!
